Among my many versions of Variations on Adon Olam I had not yet composed one for wind quintet
... but in January 2015 I was asked to do such a version especially for a Holocaust memorial:
Hundreds of people attended the Rickett Quadrangle at Middlesex University in Hendon to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
The theme of this year's service was 'Keep the Memory Alive' - reflecting that 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the
liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the 20th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica, Bosnia.
The piece was performed (with a few cuts for the sake of the singers) by the Firebird Orchestra (wind quintet) from Middlesex University with the
London Cantorial Singers who sang the words of the prayer itself (Adon Olam (Eternal Lord))
